If I could rate this place negative stars I would, it was the worst moving experience of my life and the movers made me feel unsafe. I saw the mixed reviews and took the gamble, and I wish I hadn’t. The movers showed up and they were immediately disrespectful. They said that I had lied about how many stairs there were - I’m on the 6th floor, so there are 5 flights of stairs, which I made sure to communicate to my sales representative when I booked the move because I know how difficult the stairs are. They said that I should have counted each individual stair, because they were expecting 5 stairs total, which makes zero sense. The main guy kept rolling his eyes and sighing at me, and even raised his voice. They started to take boxes down, but they took one box down each and didn’t come back up for 15 minutes. I looked through my window outside and saw them in the van smoking and eating. They came back up and took down 8 out of 10 boxes, my dresser, and my bookshelf. Then they said that I had lied about how much stuff I had. (I had a dresser, desk, 2 small armchairs, a bookshelf, small 4 person table, and a mattress, and about 10-12 boxes. I had told my sales representative this and he had said that it would be fine for me to book the smallest van size). They also said that I had paid for 300square feet and not the whole van, which is not true, and that I had too much stuff for 300sq feet. I looked and there was still space in the van. The main guy then said “how much are you going to tip us?” And I said “$50 each” (which I think is fair on a $500 move), and he raised his eyebrows and said “no that’s not nearly enough. This is a big job and you lied about how much stuff you had and how many stairs there were, so you need to pay us more. If you want us to take the rest of your stuff, you need to pay us $300.” I told them I wouldn’t do that, and to leave the rest and I’d deal with it myself. The guy kept trying to pressure me to pay them $300 and raised his voice at me. I told them no, and then they came back and took my mattress and desk (despite having previously lied to me that it wouldn’t fit) and then left, leaving me with 2 armchairs, 3 dining room chairs, and a lamp. I then had to hire a taskrabbit to come move the stuff that the dumbo movers wouldn’t, and ended up paying the taskrabbit $280. The dumbo movers then took 2 hours to show up at my new apartment, and while my taskrabbit guy was there moving in the stuff that they had left behind, they asked him how much I was paying him. They moved my stuff in, rolling their eyes at me the whole time, and broke one of my dresser drawers. Finally, they were done, and they came up to ask for their tip. I didnt want to tip them anything because it had been such a horrendous experience, but I was alone in the apartment and as a woman did not feel safe. I was genuinely worried that they wouldn’t leave my apartment, so I tipped them $140 total in cash (up from the original $100 I had said because I was scared of them). The guy counted the money in front of me, looked at me, rolled his eyes, and said “this is what you’re going to pay me for this job?” And I said yes, and he and the other guy finally left. I called yesterday immediately after they left to communicate how bad of an experience it was, and they said they would send me a complaint form but didn’t. I had to call again this morning. Horrible horrible horrible experience, avoid dumbo movers at all cost!!!!!!
